Todaiji – 06 Bodhisattvas and Four Deities

Bodhisattva Cintamani-cakra

Bodhisattva Cintamani-cakra

You can’t miss the two Bodhisattvas attending the Great Buddha.

One, stands on the left side of the Great Buddha, is called “Akasagarbha.”  This Bodhisattva represents wisdom.

The other, stands on the right side of the Buddha, is called “Cintamani-cakra.”   This Bodhisattva represents mercy.

We also find four dities for the Great Buddha.

2 of them were completed but rest 2 were uncompleted.

These four deities are guardians for the Great Buddha, and usually placed at the four sides of the hall.

But due to the lack of fund, only 2 guardians are here in the Great Buddha Hall.
