Todaiji – 09 Pindora / Written Oracles

Pindola, one of Buddha's 16 diciples

Just outside of the great Buddha hall, Pindola statue sits there.

According to the Indian sutras, Pindola was one of  16 saints of Buddha.

He was a saint who cured people using supernatural powers.

So many people come here to take their aches or pains away by rubbing this Pindola Statue.

Do you know why the statue sits out side of the building ?

There are some legends regarding the reason.

One says Pindora has been driven out because of his drunken habit.

Another reason is he used supernatural powers so often so that he had to go out.
